Chapter 3
Avoiding Scams – Spotting Real vs Fake Opportunities
“If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.” When you're desperate to earn online, you're the perfect target for scammers.
I know this because I was one. I clicked the shiny links, bought the “only 24 hours left!” courses, and believed the hype.
Here’s how you avoid what I didn’t.
🚩 The Red Flags of Online Scams
1. “Guaranteed” High Income With No Work
Anyone who promises ₹50,000/week without effort is selling a dream, not a system.
2. No Clear Business Model
If they can’t explain how the money is made — avoid it.
Real businesses are boring: they have customers, products, and value exchange.
3. Urgency Traps
“Only 3 spots left!”
“Timer ends in 12 minutes!”
These are psychological tricks. If the opportunity is real, it won’t expire in 10 minutes.
4. No Real Face or Company Info
No LinkedIn profile? No verified YouTube? No real reviews?
You’re gambling, not investing.
5. Pyramid/MLM Models Disguised as Earning Systems
“You earn by adding people under you…” = classic MLM.
Avoid unless you enjoy burning bridges.
✅ How to Spot Real Opportunities
1. It’s Skill-Based
If it skips that logic, it’s hype.
| Claim You Hear | Ask Yourself...
| "Make ₹10,000 in 2 days!" | How? Who’s paying? What’s the product?
| "Only 5 seats left!" | Why is this being sold like a Bollywood ticket?
| "No skill needed!" | Then why isn’t everyone rich already?
| "Just copy my system!" | Why would they share it instead of using it?
🧭 What You Should Look For Instead:
- Skills that clients are actively paying for
- Platforms with transparency (Upwork, Fiverr, Teachable, YouTube, etc.)
- Free value first — if someone shares good info for free, they’re more trustworthy
- Real roadmaps that take time but actually work
Your money is valuable. Spend it on tools, books, and knowledge — not shortcuts.
